I am getting ready to kick it back in gear for a fresh new year. I began looking through my centers file on my computer and found this .pdf of a game you play with word cards and a die. I plan to use it this upcoming week back to school. You will need to provide the students with word cards, the game board, and one die. Players will place the cards in the numbered spaces on the gameboard. I am going to have them deal them into the spaces until all the cards in the deck are gone. They will then take turns rolling the die. If they roll a 3, for example, they will pick up the first card on the 3 space and read it to the group. If they read it correctly, they keep the card. If they can't read the word, the word goes back to that space. The game ends when all cards are removed from the gameboard. The winner is the player who has the most cards. I plan to program my word cards with both my voc. words and some skill words too. If you would like for me to email you this .pdf file just let me know. I don't know how to attach them.
*please note this is not an original idea. The Game board is by Alice Nine, alice@nine-enterprises.com.
