Mister Bones Long o sort

I get so bored with the same old, same old WB page each week so I try my best to mix things up every chance I get. This week's spelling words have the long o sound spelling with oa and ow. After introducing the new words using the WB page, I gave each student 2 blank pieces of white paper. I asked them to draw a boat on one page and a pillow on the other. I then instructed them to sort the words placing the words that have the long o sound spelled with oa like in boat on or in the boat and the words that had the long o sound spelled with ow on the pillow. I know this is nothing fancy, but they loved making their own kind of boat and the girls got pretty fancy with their pillows. Just thought I would share in case you need something quick and easy to change things up.
