I purchased a book called Take It To Your Seat Phonics Centers several years ago. It was a very good buy. The book has full color ready to tear out and laminate centers with insturctions included. This "Count the Parts" center was in that book. I made one minor adjustment. I bought some inexpensive children's gloves for the students to wear when they go to this center.

The gloves cut down on the noise when they clap out the syllables like we practice doing in class. Wintertime is the best time to purchase gloves, of course, but the pair in the middle are kids gardening gloves and they are really cute too. The gloves really jazz this center up making the kids want to go there just so they can wear the gloves. If you can make learning fun, you can really get into their brains!!
